Y sentir que no estamos muertos

There are precious, rare moments in life when time stops and emotions fly. Moments when everything clicks and you just feel part of something much bigger than yourself. Motion becomes flow, and all people merge into one. Last wednesday, june 18th 2014, was one of those moments.

My theater class of 2014, my artistic family 😉

At the cozy and classic Teatre Llantiol in Barcelona, as part of an end-of-year public performance run by the “El Timbal” theater school, my classmates and I, we walked on cloud number 9 for a little while. Diligent effort and loads of courage were put in all throughout the year to arrive to this point. It wasn’t always easy as the challenges along the way were numerous, but we all managed to overcome our fears and rise above the circumstances.

Most credit must go to our “Guide”: the incomparable Mònica Cordomí, or “La Profe”, as we call her. She, armed with a natural sense of humor and some of the most beautiful vibes I have ever seen, accompanied us all along this magnificent journey, pushing us to become better, actors and people alike. And all that with a distinctive and warm human touch. God and her husband granted her with her first child -Julia-, and we flashed the mobs on the streets of Barcelona in deep recognition. And what can I say about my classmates, this colorful group of friends that have been like a family to me over the past two years. What a great ride we have had together!! Rehearsals, dinners, flashmobs, jokes, challenges, beers, shows … sheer and shared passion, in one word. It is to them that I dedicate these lines. It is to you, Monste, Eva, Mar, Andrey, Àngel and Bàrbara, that I shed these tears of joy and gratitude. It’s been a privilege and a gift to spend this bit of our lives together.

Lights on, stage ready, play!! And play we did, to the best of our ability, to the deepest of our hearts. Oh boy we shined, like bright stars on a summer night. We moved like angels, talked like poets, looked into each others’ eyes like lovers, and made the Magic happen. We enjoyed every second of it, like a child enjoys an ice-cream or a surfer a wave. I didn’t want it to end, and it didn’t, cause I now know that this is just the beginning, that the journey has only started and, in this, the best of companies, only great adventures can lie ahead 🙂

Nobody told me beforehand that life was just gonna keep getting better (and funner!!) every day. Nobody told me that the secret key to happiness was to share and to give back. And yet, all of you did tell me the one and only answer to the eternal “why” question: THANKS.
